New technology for communicating quickly with parents
In addition to the Truancy Call system. Capita Education Services are delighted that the same company has developed a separate innovative notification system - Call Parents. This system is designed to allow a school to send text messages or telephone calls at the fraction of the cost of post, to all the parents or guardians of pupils within a school with just a few simple clicks. A specific class, year or group can also be selected and the parents given a specific message.By using Call Parents, a school will be able to keep parents regularly updated about school activities. A message can follow up letters sent home with pupils or update information on forthcoming events at the school. For example, parents can be notified of cancellations or delays, test and exam date reminders, and invitations to meetings and events. Call Parents might be particularly useful in emergencies, such as school closures - particularly useful with the imminent possibility of snowfall and boilers breaking down! Internet Access To operate the Truancy Call system a PC with Internet Access is required in order to transmit the data of those pupils who are absent without explanation to generate a telephone call. (Please note the data is not transmitted over the Internet but directly from the schools PC to Truancy Call, it is therefore never on public displayed nor can it be access by anyone outside of the school or Truancy Call). Most schools now enjoy Internet access, provided through their Local Education Authority. However should any schools who are encompassed within this tender document, not have access to the Internet, Truancy Call will reimburse them the additional cost of having a new telephone line installed and the purchase of a modem. In addition, Truancy Call, through their sister company, will act as their Internet Service Provider, with a specially negotiated discount for Truancy Call users only, of 50% off Standard BT daytime local rates when accessing the internet. Schools taking up this option, will receive a monthly telephone bill for accessing the Internet.
