Bluewave SWIFT
Bluewave SWIFT is a partnership including Bluewave International Ltd, Education Leeds and Leeds City Council.
We have three key deliverables:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Quality Standards Framework for schools and Local Authorities.
- Deliver and maintain this Framework through a sustainable IT platform.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in applying the Framework to their own key deliverables.
Working directly with schools and local authorities and focussing on the processes around school improvement, we are bridging the gap between ‘data’ and ‘information’. Our objective is to enable coherent management of these processes, using quantitative data to support qualitative self-evaluation.
HCSS Education Ltd
HCSS currently work with over 50 Local Authorities and are the market leaders for providing multi-year budgeting software to schools. In February, 2008 a ‘link’ module was released enabling users of FMS6 to import data from HCSS’s FPS.Net and FPSadvance.Net software into FMS SQL Server thereby significantly reducing the level of data entry.
HCSS’s FPS.Net and FPSadvance.Net software can be tailored to meet your Local Authority’s LMS delegated scheme, the effect of allocating budgets in 2009/10 can be easily seen in future years. Reports for Governors can be presented either as bar chart/pie charts together with the budgets entered into the software.
A key benefit of HCSS’s FPSadvance.Net software is the ability to link the School Development Plan (SDP) to the budgeting process. Users of FPSadvance.Net have access to a SDP template which enables them to produce a fully costed SDP. Associated costs are automatically fed through to the 5 year financial planning module thereby satisfying DCSF and OFSTED requirements.
Training and software support packages are available.

Truancy Call
Truancy Call sends to parents whose children are absent from school, an automated phone call to their landline or mobile phone (in English and a variety of other languages), a text message to their mobile phone and an email. The parents are then required to respond to these messages by the same manner. Should a parent not respond an hour later they will be called again (text messages sent once only) then repeatedly until the parent responds up until 8pm (over a third of parental responses occur between 6-8pm).
Responses from parents are stored next to each pupil for the school to listen to or view. Each parental response is timed, dated and stored indefinitely. Once listened to or viewed on screen, the person operating Truancy Call can add the appropriate attendance code and date the student is expected to return and this is written back on to SIMS Attendance.
Not only does the system provide First Day Contact, it does more. Rather than just sending a one way message which will result in a mass of parents/guardians calling back and clogging up school reception. Truancy Call, allows parents/guardians, as part of the automated phone call, to say a reason for their child’s absence into the phone and should they have received a text message, then they can text the reasons for their child's absence back.
