Welcome to the SIMS Annual Conference website

Click here to bookIt’s a case of ‘all change’ for this year’s SIMS Annual Conference, which will be taking place for the first time at the East Midlands Conference Centre at Nottingham University, from 22 – 24 June.

This year's conference is at a new venue which is in response to your feedback and the increase in delegate numbers year on year.

We gave the choice of a new venue considerable thought, and hope that your conference experience at EMCC will prove to be extremely enjoyable and worthwhile.

    Why EMCC?

    • Purpose built conference centre set in acres of parkland, yet within close proximity to Nottingham city centre
    • Good links to A1, M1, national rail networks and East Midlands airport
    • All conference activities will take place within the main conference building
    • Accommodation within easy walking distance
    • All bedrooms have free wired internet access and a fridge
    • Leisure facilities, including swimming pool, free of charge to delegates

Further information on EMCC can be found at www.emcc.co.uk

The focus for the 2009 SIMS Annual Conference is The 21st Century Local Authority.

We have compiled a varied programme of electives for you to choose from and enlightening platform speakers for the theatre presentations.  If you browse through the following web pages you will find all of the information you need to submit your booking and to secure your place.  We anticipate high delegate numbers this year and would advise early booking.

The conference is usually hosted by a Capita staff member, however this year we have booked an award winning journalist - Nadine Dereza - to host the event. Further details on Nadine can be found on the 'Platform Speakers' page of this website.

Aside from the more formal conference programme, we have booked some unusual evening entertainment for both nights; it's quite a mix, which we’re sure will provide something for everyone!

We look forward to receiving your booking and to welcoming you to the EMCC in June.

The booking site will close on Friday 12 June so please book early to avoid disappointment.
