Music Tution
Supporting the provision of music tuition
Giving children the opportunity to learn how to
play a musical instrument can help boost
confidence and raise achievement. One Music
Tuition can support authorities in providing
music lessons in school, by managing many of
the associated administration tasks simply and
automatically.
Managing and administering music
lessons efficiently
Managing the provision of music lessons through One Music
Tuition is easy as authority staff can record and store a wide
range of information on pupils and schools, ensemble
membership, grades achieved in music and details of how
lessons are being paid for. The system reuses existing pupil data
from within One, so there is no need for authority staff to
spend time keying in this information. Music tutors’ time can
be block-booked to schools to help ensure music lessons are
organised quickly and easily.
Complete record of finances
Using One Music Tuition, time is saved for authority staff in
managing the financial aspects of providing music tuition,
ensemble membership and instrument hire. Details of the
sponsor who pays the music service for the tuition are
recorded, whether this is a child’s parents, a relative, their
school or the authority and the system can be designed to
reflect individual authority charging policies, including
remissions. Each sponsor receives a single invoice for all the
tuition, instrument hire and ensemble membership they are
funding, simplifying the administrative process and providing
clear information for the sponsor.
A comprehensive inventory can be maintained of instruments
provided to schools across the authority, including information
on purchasing costs and details of any repairs that have been
carried out. The system also enables authority staff to track the
loan of instruments to both children and schools.
Evidence of value added
One Music Tuition supports the DfES’ Music Services survey
and provides authority staff with access to comprehensive
reporting tools that will help them monitor their provision of
music lessons against Performance Indicators. By accessing
existing pupil assessment information within One, authorities
will also be able to provide evidence of the value added to a pupil’s education by the provision of music tuition.
