Attendance
Tracking and monitoring attendance
A child who is missing from school on a regular basis can put their future academic achievement at risk. Authority staff understand the importance of working in close partnership with the schools in their area to target truancy and help pupils achieve more.
One Attendance ensures authorities have access to the most recent attendance data direct from schools. The information can be
uploaded automatically into One Attendance
so there is no need to contact the school to
request reports. The data can then be tracked
and monitored to ensure truanting pupils and
their families are targeted from the earliest
possible moment and support is provided to
schools with the greatest need.
A complete record of pupil attendance
One Attendance helps ensure a complete record of pupils’ daily
morning and afternoon attendance is available to the authority
direct from SIMS or any other compatible school information
management system. This gives authority staff access to a wide
range of attendance information for individuals, groups of
pupils, single schools or clusters across the region, which can be
used to help combat persistent truancy and identify problem
areas or schools.
More targeted frontline services
Complex analysis reports can be generated quickly to help
authority staff identify any patterns that might be forming in a
pupil’s non-attendance or in a particular school or region.
School-by-school comparisons help make sense of the data,
showing how a school of a similar size or in a particular area
fares against another in similar circumstances. One Attendance
ensures resources are targeted in areas where they will be most
effective and any initiatives introduced can be monitored to
make sure they are successfully reducing incidences of truancy.
Respond quickly
Responding early can often be effective in tackling truancy.
Using B2B: Student, attendance data can be transferred
automatically and securely from SIMS schools to the authority.
Electronic data exchange can be scheduled every day following
registration, so that attendance officers are automatically
alerted to absences on the morning they are recorded by
schools. This enables Education Welfare Officers to take action from the earliest possible moment
