    Local support

More than 80% of schools throughout the United Kingdom use all or part of the SIMS system. Some hold single-site licences and obtain their support and services directly from Capita Education Services in Bedford or at one of its Regional Centres (see National Support).

Most, however, obtain their licensing and support for SIMS, as well as other IT requirements, from a local support team. Each LEA that uses SIMS in its schools is associated with a support team: many teams are an integral part of the LEA.

SIMS is currently undertaking a process of accrediting support teams. To achieve accreditation, a team must satisfy a stringent set of quality-based requirements. Every school in the team's operating area is then surveyed to ensure that the team is providing a quality, value-for-money service.

The schools who respond to their team's Accreditation Survey are each entered in a draw with a digital camera to be won.

John Teago, Head of Park Hill Infants School, Coventry, was the delighted winner of the Nikon camera. A longtime user of SIMS and a happy "customer" for the Coventry team's services, John is looking forward to using the camera with his pupils "once I've had a little play and found out how it works...".
