    Bases

Providing instant access to key school information

The effectiveness of many local authority processes and procedures relies on the availability of up-to-date information on the region’s schools, pupil referral units and other related establishments.

One Bases underpins a range of processes within One by maintaining core data such as opening times, pupil numbers, local authority and school contacts and on sites, such as addresses and geographical data to inform the more effective provision of authority-wide services and support.

A comprehensive store of core Information

Authority staff can draw the data they need directly from One and utilise it to inform everyday working practices. Key information, vital to the provision of many services, such as the address of a site and contact numbers for caretakers or other key holders, can be instantly accessed by authorised staff as well as information such as pupil intake numbers, term dates or the names of headteachers or governors.

More detailed information accessible across departments

Data from within Bases supports processes across the One product suite, such as Admissions & Transfers, Governors, Training Manager, Transport and Personnel; reducing the need for information to be re-entered in each department and ensuring there is only one set of data that needs to be maintained. Using the site or gate’s Ordnance Survey grid reference information stored in the system, an authority can measure distances to ensure the fair allocation of school places or entitlement to the provision of home-to-school transport. Data can also be linked to categories in a variety of statutory returns to help save time for authority staff in preparing reports.

Anytime, anywhere access to vital school data

Much of the treasure trove of information in Bases can be accessed quickly and easily from any computer with an internet connection, using a secure login and password, so field-based practitioners can quickly locate schools and the contacts they need within them, wherever they are working. Online access to Bases also enables schools to ensure core data stored within the system is current.
